Having an outdoor gym in your local community has many perks. In fact, we can’t stress enough how important it is to visit one.

Ideally, you would want your outdoor gym to be complete to get the full experience. However, you may find that some aren’t and that’s okay! Not everyone has the fund to build a full-blown gym.

In fact, sticking to ONLY the essentials can be best, especially if the community or park is small and has few visitors. So if you want to stick to the basics, here are the 3 main things we believe every outdoor gym should have;

Having a variety of exercise stations is great to target different muscle groups and a range of exercises.

  1. Exercise Stations

Include a variety of exercise stations that target different muscle groups and provide a range of exercises.

Some examples include pull-up bars, parallel bars, dip bars, monkey bars, adjustable benches, leg press machines, and elliptical trainers.

Strength training equipment is great for those who like a little challenge and wish to intensify their workout routine.

  1. Strength Training Equipment

It’s always great to offer a range of equipment for strength training for those who are looking for more challenges.

Add on free weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, weightlifting benches, and resistance machines. These should cater to both beginners and advanced users.

  1. Signage and Instructions:

Most users (especially beginners) are clueless and don’t know how to use any of the equipment correctly.

Have clear display signage and instructions on how to use the equipment correctly and safely. Include diagrams or instructions for various exercises to guide the users.

Of course, there are plenty more to add to your outdoor gym such as a; stretching zone, cardiovascular equipment, calisthenics area, shade and shelter, and more.

But for starters, just stick to these three main things, and your starter outdoor gym is done. Later on, you can expand and add on other equipment to suit your needs and budget.
