Building a safe and fun playground for your project would be incomplete without the addition of slides.
Let’s face it, they’re fun and beneficial for early childhood development! Knowing that, they’re several options of slides in the market for you to choose from.
To make it simple for you, we’ve narrowed it down and provided you with a list of six types of playground slides you should know before building your perfect playground.

A straight slide is the most common slide that you’d find in playgrounds.
Straight Slides
Traditional and commonly found in any playground, straight slides’ chute goes downward in a straight line, having no bends or curves.
Due to safety reasons, it is a must for the slides’ chute to have raised sides on both sides.

Usually J or L shaped, these slides are less traditional.
Curved Slides
If you’re looking for something less traditional, curved slides would be a great option! It has twists and turns and adds more excitement when your kids are playing.
Usually, this slide comes in two shapes:
L-shape: turns at 90-degree angle
J-shape: turns at 180-degree angle

Spiral slides is another popular option for kids as they are exciting to play with.
Spiral Slides
Spiral slides are also a popular option. When using this slide, the rider can’t necessarily see where they’re going due to the twists and turns feature it has.
While they are fun and highly enjoyable, toddlers and pre-school children should be provided with shorter and only one 360-degree turn or less for this slide.

Roller slides aren’t commonly found but they are definitely a new fun option.
Roller Slides
Usually made of metal, this slide isn’t usually found but they’re great if the kids are always stuck halfway down the slides.
Similar to the conveyor belt at an airport, this slide has horizontal mini rollers, making it easy for riders to go down.

Curved slides adds a change of pace to your traditional slides.
Wavy Slides
Curve elements can be incorporated in straight slides. While straight slides can make riders go down fast, adding a few curves gives a change of pace. Whether the curve is at the left to right, or go up and down to form a wave shape, it definitely brings more excitement to your usual slide.

A tube slide is fun as it is fully enclosed and it’s also common at waterparks as well.
Tube Slides
Tube slides are commonly found in a bigger playground or waterparks. They’re different as they are either partially or fully enclosed until the slides reach the exit.
Similar to the spiral slides, riders can’t see where they’re going and for safety, a barrier should be placed to prevent kids from climbing on top of sliding on the outside tube.
Hopefully this list helps you become familiar with the type of playground slides out there for you to choose from.
Adding one or two of them is a must in any playground to encourage your kids to become more active. If you need help to choose the perfect one to suit you, don’t hesitate to reach out to KAS Binasama and we’ll be happy to provide some suggestions!
